The Charters
Aboard the Beavertail Strike, run to the shallowest flats of Matlacha, Pine Island Sound, and Charlotte Harbor and start fishing before everybody else. Every charter is custom tailored around tides, weather, skill level, and target species.
Snook and tarpon feed under the dock lights of Pine Island, Matlacha, and the Caloosahatchee all year long — with the occasional trout or redfish grabbing a fly. Be ready to bow to the silver king.
Cruise the barrier islands — world-class shelling on Captiva and Cayo Costa, or a burger and a beer at Cabbage Key. Bring your camera: roseate spoonbills have a habit of flying by just before sunset.

Snook and tarpon on the dock lights — a year-round fishery.
A $100 deposit reserves your day on the water — payable by check, cash, or Venmo. Cancel more than 30 days out for a full refund; inside 30 days, the deposit is forfeited or we reschedule for a later date.
A good attitude — it’s hard to be grumpy on a boat. Polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat are a must. Bring a camera and any snacks or drinks you like; ice and water are ready to roll.
All tackle, safety equipment, and fishing licenses are provided. Prefer your own setup? Bring it — just let the captain know ahead of time so he can plan storage.
Side note from the captain: he will never turn down a surprise sandwich on the water.
Meet Your Guide
St. Louis isn’t the most likely place for a saltwater guide to grow up. It started with his dad’s old Orvis 6-weight in the basement, then the spring creeks of the Ozarks, then a first tarpon on fly in Key West — and the plan was set.
In 2016, Alex moved to the Fort Myers area almost solely for the rich waters around Matlacha, Pine Island, and the barrier islands of Charlotte Harbor. Three months later he took delivery of his Beavertail Strike, and he’s spent every spare moment since poling the mangrove creeks and flats in search of solitude and gamefish.

Waterfront homeowners hang submerged and overhead lights off their docks. Bait stacks up in the glow, structure holds ambush points — the combination is a snook magnet, and it’s not uncommon to see a few tarpon milling around the edges.
